How we decide what to publish, and what we will not publish.
Sourcing
Specifications come from the manufacturer’s own product page, specification sheet or owner’s manual, and we record the date we read them. Owner reports are labelled as owner reports. Where two sources disagree, we say so and name both rather than picking the one that suits the argument.
Corrections
We correct errors in place and note what changed. We have already corrected published cycle times and bundle contents on this site once, and said so. A page with an update date and no visible history is less trustworthy, not more.
What we will not do
- Publish a test figure we did not measure or a source we did not read.
- Accept payment, product or hospitality in exchange for a ranking or a score.
- Let a manufacturer approve a review before publication.
- Describe an accessory as compatible with a machine unless a manufacturer states it.
- Pad a ranking with products we would not recommend, to make the list look longer.
